St. James’ Church Kindergarten (Gilstead)
Note: The lease for the St. James’ Church Kindergarten (Gilstead) ends in 2024, and will not be renewed. Please contact us at the school office for more information on enrolment matters.

1. School Terms
The Kindergarten follows the school calendar of the Ministry of Education.

3.1  Every class has two class teachers, the English teacher and the Chinese teacher, providing a bilingual environment for the children.

3.2  K1 and K2 classes have an additional Maths teacher to teach the Maths lessons for all the classes in that level.

4. Admission
Admission for any academic year is governed by the age stipulated by the Ministry of Education. Age is calculated based on 2 January of the year of admission.

5. School Fees
5.1 School fees* per term of 10 weeks:

Note:
With the announcement of the Singapore Budget dated 21 February 2022, the Goods & Services Tax (GST) is now 9% in 2024. Therefore, any payments made in 2023 will reflect an 8% GST, and any payments made from 1 January 2024 onwards will include a 9% GST.
5.2 School fees paid are not refundable.
5.3 School fees cover the tuition fee for the term.

6. Other Fees
Other fees refer to registration fees, deposit and fees for special activities.
6.1 Registration fee – A non-refundable registration fee is payable upon registration.
6.2 Deposit – A deposit is payable for the confirmation of placement of a child.
6.3
Fees for special activities – Separate fees are payable for special activities e.g. project work, excursions, field trips, camps, annual concert, and special events.

Administrative Procedures

1. Registration
1.1
Registration can be done throughout the year from Monday to Friday between 9.00am – 10.30am & 12.00nn – 2.00pm during the school term and between 9.00 am and 12 noon during the school holidays.
1.2
An open registration system is practised and registration can be done as long as the child has a birth certificate.
1.3
Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
1.4
There is a non-refundable registration fee of $80 (inclusive of GST).
1.5
At the point of registration, the child’s birth certificate and parents’ IC’s are required.
1.6
At the point of registration, payment of a deposit of $500 (3-hour K1/K2 programme) or $800 (6-hour K1/K2 programme) is also required as confirmation of a child’s placement.
1.7
Once all available places have been filled, all further registrations will be placed on a waiting list. If a child’s place is not confirmed, no deposit will be collected.
2. Enrolment Exercise for Registered Children
2.1
The enrolment exercise for registered children takes place 6 months before start of school.
2.2
The enrolment exercise requires 50% of the School fee to be paid 6 months before the start of school. The remaining 50% of the School Fee will be paid 3 months before the start of school.
3. Withdrawals
3.1
A written notice of withdrawal must be given to the office within the first four weeks of the current term in order to qualify for a refund of the deposit and to avoid the forfeiture of the same.
3.2

4. Insurance
The Kindergarten provides a 24-hour world-wide coverage Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy for every student studying in the Kindergarten.
5. Foreign Students
Foreign students without a Dependant’s Pass must apply for a Student Pass. Contact our admin staff for more information.
6. Modes of Payment
6.1
St. James’ Church Kindergarten is a GST registered company and the prevailing GST is chargeable for all transactions.
6.2
Only cash and ePayment via Little Family Room are accepted.
6.3
Account payee cheques are to be made payable to St. James’ Church Kindergarten.

Miscellaneous

1. Bus Transport
1.1
All transport arrangements are to be made directly with the transport providers and shall be subject to the terms set by the bus operators.
1.2
For information regarding bus routes and bus fares, contact the Bus Operator, Mdm. Tan, at 91543794.
2. Meals
2.1
The children’s meals during snack or lunch time are provided at no extra cost on regular school days.
2.2
Children with certain dietary needs or constraints are advised to pack a lunch box from home if unable to consume the food provided by the Kindergarten
3. School Uniform
3.1
This refers to the St. James’ Church Kindergarten uniform, T-shirt, name tag, bag, jacket, and hat.
3.2
These may be purchased from the Kindergarten Office during office hours.
3.3
Name tags orders can be made through the Kindergarten Office.
4. Parent Handbook
The Parent Handbook will be made available to parents just before the child enters the Kindergarten. This handbook provides further information regarding policies, routines and procedures in the Kindergarten.
5. Photographs and/or videoclips of children and staff
5.1
Due to privacy reasons, no photo-taking and videoing will be allowed in the school premises and during school activities, unless the photo/video is of only your child or consent has been granted by the other party. These photos and videos are not to be uploaded in public domains e.g. Facebook and Twitter.
5.2
However, the Kindergarten is permitted to and shall have the right to use photographs and/or video clips of children enrolled in the Kindergarten for publicity and/or promotional purposes, which would include the SJCK website, term newsletters, as well as media(press or TV).
